NYC Day 3

Today was probably my favorite so far. Met a lot of cool people, learned a lot. Everything that was said today helped me to understand how much there is out there and how hard you have to work to get there.

All the places we visited today were pretty cool. Something that was said at all three places is "don't be an asshole." Other than that we learned a lot about how important metadata/captions are.
"Have a path in mind, be committed, and continue to fight for it."-Getty
Pay attention/be observant, know your market, be honest always. Honesty was something else that I heard over and over. Most of the places we have visited have told us that having a reasonably good image with good information/caption is better than either nothing at all or making up an excuse for why you missed something important.

NYC Day 1

Today, we started by waking up after no sleep.
But then we went to Frank Fournier's studio and he spoke to us for a while.
He was interesting and had lots of wise words for us. It was good to hear his view on how to come up with story ideas and then pursuing them. I got a better idea of how important it is to "create myself." I guess it helps to hear it from someone else. It's important to diversify yourself from others, don't copy, but instead be inspired.

Facing Change was pretty cool too because not only did we have our portfolios reviewed by Alan Chin and Anthony Suau, but we got to see their work as well. We learned about their business and the other businesses they have been involved with. I got some advice on how to improve my story and different angles I could have taken or can still take if I continue on with stories I've already started. Oh, and I taught Alan Chin how to play flip cup. That is all.

Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament 3-18-11

Yesterday, I went to a boxing competition for the first time. I went to follow a story I've been doing on a local boxer and this is some of what I came out with. Much more to come though
